Assistant Professor in Law and Economics at the University of Economics in Prague


Short bio:

Paola was a student in the European Doctorate in Law and Economics programme from October 2010 until June 2014. After being a research associate at the University of Verona, she is currently in the position of an assistant professor of Law and Economics at the University of Economics in Prague. She holds a BSc. in International Business Studies (2005) and a M.A. in International Economics (2007) and also obtained a M.A in European Economic Studies with specialization in European Law and Economic Analysis from the College of Europe in 2009. During her studies, Paola worked for the Chief Economist Unit of both the Italian Antitrust Authority and the European Commission, DG Competition, and gained experience as an economic consultant in the field of new media. Her research interests mainly focus on Law and Economics, Health Economics, Competition and Regulation.

Short bio:

Alexandre completed his PhD in December 2014. Prior to enrolling to the European Doctorate in Law & Economics programme, he obtained a Master in Economic Law from Sciences Po Paris and a Master degree in Public Economic Law (cum laude) from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne. He also studied Law and International Relations through two academic exchanges in the United States (Boston University) and in Brazil (Universidade de São Paulo). Following his PhD, he worked at the Directorate for Health and Consumer (DG SANCO) of the European Commission and as an associate lawyer in the EU regulatory department of the law firm Covington & Burling in Brussels. His research interests focus on regulatory law, enforcement, collective redress, and judicial decision-making, behavioural economics applied to policy-making and evaluation of public policies.

Vijit S. Chahar is a Senior Research Specialist at the United Nations Development Programme and has served as a Consultant to the Independent Evaluation Office, Government of India. His findings have been debated in Parliament and have informed key decisions by the Prime Minister of India. He has previously served as Legal Officer at the Securities and Exchange Board of India. He holds a Master of Laws degree and the Wharton Business and Law Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania and the B.A., LLB (Hons.) degrees from the National Law School of India University. He is admitted to the bar in the states of Delhi and New York.

Short bio:

Marco’s research interests focus on behavioral and experimental law and economics and microeconometrics. In his works he uses experiments - either field, natural or laboratory ones - in order to empirically investigate a wide range of policy issues. Marco obtained his EDLE PhD cum Laude successfully defending the dissertation “Social Welfare and Behavioral Public Policies” on December 2014, advisors Prof. Francesco Parisi (Minnesota University and University of Bologna) and Prof. Louis Visscher (Erasmus University Rotterdam). Before his PhD, Marco obtained the M.Sc. in Economics “LMEC” at University of Bologna ( cum Laude, 2011), a B. Sc. in Law and Economics at University of Bologna (cum Laude, 2009) and a degree in philosophy at University of Trento (cum Laude, 2006). He has been visiting student at Nova University Lisbon (2008), at University of California Santa Cruz (2009\2010) and visiting researcher at University of California Berkeley (2014). Since November 2014 Marco has joined the research group “Behavioral Approach to Contract and Tort Law” at Erasmus University Rotterdam as post-doctoral researcher.

Short bio:

Philip was a student in the EDLE programme from 2010 to 2014. He holds two Master degrees from the University of Vienna in Economics and Political Science (with exchange semesters at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the University of Western Australia). After that, he completed the European Master Programme in Law and Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, the University of Bologna, and the University of Haifa. He gained experience by working at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO), and on a large variety of policy consulting projects in different contexts. Furthermore he interned with the U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna. His fields of research, among others, are migration, inter-jurisdictional competition, state aid, and corporate governance.

An Analysis of the Banking Sector” and was supervised by Professor De Nicolo from Bologna University and advised by Professor David Gilo from Tel Aviv University and by Dr. Adv. David Tadmor. Hadar has completed her PhD under the supervision of Professor Alessandro Pomelli and Professor Marco Lamandini from Bologna University, Professor Klaus Heine from Rotterdam University and Professor Sharon Hannes from Tel Aviv University.

Dr. Claire Leger completed a double degree course in Law and Economics (cum laude ) from the Paris 1 Sorbonne University in 2010. She mainly focused on “Public Decisions, Institutions and Organizations”. She was an Erasmus Mundus Scholar in the framework of the European Doctorate in Law and Economics. Her doctoral thesis “Sanctions and Public Enforcement of Insider Trading Laws in Europe”, supervised by Prof. Michael Faure, follows a law and economics approach in identifying how the insider trading prohibition should be enforced in Europe. Her research interest is in the field of Law and Economics, economic regulation, economic criminal law, and enforcement of laws in an international framework with special emphasis on public policies evaluation. She qualified as a lawyer in Paris, France in 2016.

Dr. Jingyuan Ma is Lecturer in Law at Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing, China. She obtained her PhD from the University of Hamburg, Erasmus University Rotterdam and the University of Bologna, taking part in the European Doctorate in Law and Economics programme (EDLE).
