Short bio:

Sofia Amaral-Garcia is currently a Research Associate at DIW Berlin, Department of Firms & Markets; Research Associate at the Berlin Economics Research Associates (BERA) Program; and Fellow at the Berlin Center for Consumer Policies (BCCP). Previously, she was a postdoctoral Global Fellow at New York University, School of Law, and a postdoctoral associate at the Center for Law & Economics, ETH Zurich. She was also a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Collective Goods (Jan-Fev 2015), University of Illinois, College of Law (Fall 2010), and CRED (previously ERMES), University Panthéon-Assas Paris II (2011). Sofia’s broad research interests are in empirical law & economics, health economics, applied microeconomics and comparative law. Sofia received her M.P.P.A. (Master in Public Policy and Administration) and BA (Licenciatura) in Economics from Nova School of Business & Economics (Portugal).

Current position:

Katarina works as a senior consultant in energy and environmental field at Trinomics, an economic consultancy based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and in Brussels, Belgium

 

Short bio:

Katarina Svatikova was an EDLE PhD during 2006 - 2010, based in Rotterdam. In her dissertation she analysed using a cost-benefit analysis, empirical assessment and a simple economic model, enforcement of environmental violations via criminal and administrative sanctions. Since 2011, she works as a senior consultant in energy and environmental field, currently being employed by Trinomics (Rotterdam and Brussels office), one of the top economic public policy consultancies in the field of environment, energy and climate policy. Her work involves projects on environment and energy topics, such as circular economy, sustainable buildings, resource efficiency, and impact assessment & evaluation methodologies. She has worked on numerous European projects for DG Environment, DG Energy and DG CLIMA of the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and the European Parliament. In addition, she worked for international development banks such as for the World Bank/IFC or the French Development Agency (AFD) as well as for the national governments (the Dutch, Scottish, Irish). Prior to joining Trinomics, Katarina worked for the Energy & Environment Unit of Ecorys, a leading economic consultancy, and prior to that for the Chief Economist Unit (Impact Assessments and evaluation unit, currently Resource Efficiency & Economic Analysis) at DG Environment of the European Commission. Katarina obtained a Masters of Science degree in Economic and Law from the Utrecht University, and a Masters of Arts degree in international relations and European studies from the Central European University in Budapest
