The EDLE is pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Stefan Voigt as the new EDLE Director at the University of Hamburg. Stefan Voigt follows his predecessor Jun. Prof. Dr. Patrick Leyens who has successfully managed the EDLE programme since 2009. Stefan Voigt joined the Institute of Law and Economics in Hamburg as Director in 2009. Since then he has also been engaged in the EDLE as both a Hamburg Faculty member and thesis supervisor. Prior to his position in Hamburg, he held chairs at the Universities of Marburg, Kassel and Bochum; worked as a fellow at the ‘Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin’; as a senior fellow at the ‘Krupp Kolleg Greifswald’; and as research fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute of Economics, Jena. He gained experience with structured doctoral programs by representing the University of Marburg in the programme on “Institutions, Economics and Law” coordinated by the University of Turin, Italy.
Within his field of research he focuses on the economic consequences of alternative constitutional provisions and on the economic outcomes relating to different judiciary structures.
